(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The protesters, particularly women were heard chanting 'shoot us, but don't harass us', last night, pti reported today. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Vyas rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that they won't be bothered but the suspected banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists will be grilled and dealt with according to the law after which the gherao was lifted.
The protesters hailed from Ashoknagar, a Muslim dominated area of the city.
Vyas said they have detained 6 persons, including a woman and interrogating them for their suspected links with SIMI.
Police had cracked a whip on the SIMI suspected activists after the killing of an Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) personnel and injuring of his colleague by two banned outfit members in a shoot out on 3rd June in the city.
Both the SIMI activists Zakir and Farhad were later arrested. The duo was wanted in a broad daylight shootout incident at Khandwa district of 2009 in which three persons were killed.
Police had arrested two persons who had rented out their houses to Zakir and Farhad.
